3rd Annual World Dance Bazaar

Performance Schedule

Lake Wales Main Street will celebrate performing arts by presenting the 3rd Annual World Dance Bazaar in the Downtown Historic District Marketplace on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Dance styles from around the world will be represented. Professional and semi-professional dancers from Lake Wales, Clearwater, Tampa, Orlando, Lakeland, Sebring, and Winter Haven will perform Greek, Ballroom, African Step Dancing, Belly Dancing, Ballroom, Square Dance, Clogging, Hip-Hop, Fusion, Classic Egyptian, Salsa and more.

The Celebrity Dance Contest is a fundraiser to benefit four local nonprofits that are members of Main Street: Lake Wales Care Center, Circle of Friends, Lake Wales Arts Center and Green Horizon Land Trust. The Celebrity Dance Couple who raises the most money will win a trophy and all proceeds will be split between the nonprofits. Theresa Hanken from Hanken School of Dance will be the dance instructor and the Celebrity Couples are:

Robert & Judy Delmar, Judy is Lake Wales City Manager
Herbert & Megan Gillis, Herb is Lake Wales Police Chief
Eric & Dee Hinshaw, owners of Chalet Suzanne Restaurant and Country Inn
Dr. Keith Wade & Dr. Kelly Wolfe, Keith is President of Webber International University
Jim & Debra Gouvellis, Jim is Publisher of Lake Wales News and Polk County Democrat
Robert Connors, owner of Festival Steak & Seafood Restaurant
Val Villups & Victor Rodriguez, Jeni Bops, Circle of Friends 

Our featured guest performer is internationally-known singer from Haiti, Tifane Séjour. She has collaborated with the biggest names in Haitian music and performed worldwide. Her rich and smooth style is influenced by Sade, Billie Holiday and Bob Marley. She has toured North America, the French islands, Europe and Canada, receiving the “Best Vocalist” award of the Nisville Jazz Festival in Serbia, and awarded “Best Female artist of the Year” award in Haiti. Tifane is also known as a powerful humanitarian for her country.

Vendors will offer jewelry, food, dance accessories and international merchandise.

Admission is FREE. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the afternoon!
